Told by an Idiot was founded in 1993 by Hayley Carmichael, Paul Hunter and John Wright and has established an international reputation for its comic, innovative and startlingly original productions, revelling in a style of theatre that is bigger than life. The company has performed throughout the world, collaborating with celebrated artists including Carol Ann Duffy, Richard Wilson, Zoe Rahman and Philip Pullman.
Recent productions include The Comedy of Errors (Royal Shakespeare Company), The Fahrenheit Twins (Drum Theatre Plymouth, barbicanbite, unitytheatre); Beauty and the Beast (Lyric Hammersmith/Warwick Arts Centre) and Casanova (West Yorkshire Playhouse & Lyric Hammersmith).
Future productions include The Dark Philosophers with National Theatre Wales this autumn based on the stories of Gwyn Thomas.
As part of the In Process / In Performance season, Told by an Idiot will present a work-in-progress of their new show And the Horse You Rode In On and will also appear at Scratch Night.
