Brighton Dome and Festival would like to thank all of the artists, companies and audience members who helped to make this season of work in development the success it has been.  With new theatre, dance and contemporary performance at various stages of development as well as work-in-progress presentations, workshops and discussions, the reactions and involvement of all have been fantastic.

Keep an eye on this blog in the future as we continue our Artistic Development programme, and please feel free to continue to use it as a base for discussion regarding the work and companies.

Told by an Idiot is rehearsing at Brighton Dome all this week and will be presenting extracts from their forthcoming production And the Horse You Rode In On as part of Scratch Night on Wednesday and again on Friday.

Described as a “sinister comedy of ineptitude”, make sure you catch these sneak previews in advance of the finished show at Brighton Festival 2011.

The first of three showcase events as part of the In Process / In Performance season is an evening of associate artists and companies from The Point, Eastleigh and the Corn Exchange, Newbury on Monday 20 September, 7.30pm.

Expect comedy and cabaret from  Shady Jane, contemporary dance from Udifydance, storytelling from The River People and more – no less than eight performances in fact in the Corn Exchange.  Book your table now!

In Process / In Performance is an initiative of Brighton Dome & Festival’s artist development programme – a two year series of performance platforms, production developments, creative laboratories, talks, masterclasses and networking events.

Funded by Arts Council England, it aims to connect the region’s artists to each other, to audiences and to the ongoing work of the organisation. Crucially, it creates much needed space for artists to develop new work over time and for audiences to see this work and offer feedback throughout the making process.

Following the sell-out success of Yesterday and Justitia in the Corn Exchange, Jasmin’s new piece 7734 makes its world premiere in the Concert Hall on 23 September. Click here for more information.

“Part dance show, part heavy-rock gig, Hofesh Shechter’s first ever full-length work is an audio-visual marvel” said The Telegraph’s five-star review for Political Mother – a Brighton Festival commission and world premiere for 2010.

Hofesh is fast becoming one of the most significant choreographers working the UK.  Hofesh Shechter Company is a resident company at Brighton Dome.

With its run extended to nine weeks, dreamthinkspeak’s site-specific Before I Sleep won universal critical acclaim when it premiered at Brighton Festival 2010.  Over 13,000 people experienced the mesmerising show in the Old Co-Op Building on London Road.
