The Two Wrongies

Presented by The Basement and Brighton Dome & Festival

Following successful sell-out shows at Brighton Festival earlier this year, here is another chance to see The Two Wrongies.

World of Wrong is a risqué dance-comedy that celebrates the glitz and glamour of show time while exploring the sad and grubby truths that sometimes lurk beyond the spotlight. It’s dance, it’s comedy, it’s theatre. It’s funny, it’s tongue in cheek, it’s daring. It has some serious bits and some rude bits. Welcome to the strange and schizophrenically chaotic world of The Two Wrongies.

A word of caution: their absurdist humour is not for the faint hearted!

These women are amazing. Having seen their show at The Basement during the festival I’m really interested to see it again (Petra Massey from Spymonkey has been in to give some feedback) and to see if it’s different in a larger space.

  2. We are very excited to have this opportunity to show ‘ World of Wrong’ at the Corn Exchange. It is always great to perform in Brighton to our home crowd who have lunged with us many times!!

After the shows in the Brighton festival, we have also shown this work at BAC as part of their N20 comedy festival and have taken a 30 minute excerpt over to Bar25 in Berlin.

We have been reworking and developing sections within the show since May, allowing a period of reflection to evolve the initial ideas with the feedback from artistic peers and mentors and as we grow and develop as artists this is reflected in the changes we have made.

Our biggest challenge was to work on the transistions between the various sections of the show, these are parts that tie everything together and though looking at the show as a whole piece the nuances and connections between the different sections of the ‘World of Wrong’ are clearer to us and the audience.

We are now in rehearsals and final developments for 21st.
We have just finished reworking the final section with the help of Petra Massey of Spy Monkey , whose experience and expertise as female comedy performer has been invaluable to us. Thanks Petra!

Also big thanks to The Basement (of whom we are associate artists) and Helen Medland who have not been afraid to take risks in the work it supports. The Basement’s relationship with the Dome has allowed an us, an emergent company, with work that is brave, candid and risky to be able to showcase their work in internationally renowned venue.

  3. Am very excited to say that this evening I will be representing The Two Wrongies at a discussion that is taking place as part of the In Process/In Performance programme, and it’s called ‘A Steeper Climb? What is the experience of women artistic directors in contemporary performance’.

I will be on the panel alongside some brilliant female artistic directors who are making their mark in their field of work. i’m really interested in seeing what similarities may appear in our expereiences, especially as our company’s make very different work.

Please do come along to listen, engage and ask questions…it will make all the differnce to hear thoughts and experiences of other artists, directors, performers and of course, audiences.

    Hope to see you there!

    • Right – so we’re gearing up for the show tomorrow. We are both very excited about bringing this show to The Corn Exchange. We’ve some changes that we think make the show tighter, funnier and (at times!) more beautiful…are you ready to be wronged?
